Back in February/March of this year ex-soldier, public speaker and IT consultant James Redden, ever the intrepid adventurer, skied 350-miles through Norway. The aim of this journey was to create awareness about our charity and the musical tools we provide to stimulate communication, learning and self-expression in children and adults with severe learning difficulties. After being introduced to Soundabout through a member of staff and attending a session in which he witnessed our work first-hand, he has been actively promoting our charity ever since.

Furthermore, he raised over £1000 in sponsorship to support the vital and life-changing work that we do.

Later this year he will embark on a full distance solo, unsupported, and unaided ski to the Geographic South Pole to further fundraise for us and Meningitis Now. James will travel approximately 700 miles in treacherous and freezing conditions. The journey will be mentally and physically challenging with temperatures regularly reaching as low as minus forty Celsius. On average he will ski 10 - 12 hour a day whilst towing all his own food and equipment in a pulk. He will attempt to complete this mission in under 30 days to set a new UK record.

If you would like to receive regular updates on his training and progress, then you can follow him through the dedicated North by South blog and FaceBook pages. The gallery below showcases a small section of the wonderful photo's he captured during his time in Norway.

We wish him all the very best in this incredible adventure!
